Romancing the Duke Castles Ever After Tessa Dare 9780062240194 Books

The plot & characters are very lovable. The grumpy duke, Ransom, dislikes the presence of whimsical & bold Izzy, so the encounters they have in the house is quite humorous, the dialogue betwn the 2 that Tessa Dare sets up is so silly. If u like this book, then you'll enjoy "Any Duchess will do," another funny RN. Both are very entertaining to curl up in the bed before sleeping!

Romancing the Duke Castles Ever After Tessa Dare 9780062240194 Books Reviews

The book started off well. It was written well, the characters were interesting, the situation intriguing (not especially believable, but fun and well presented). Somewhere in the middle it all began to fall apart, though. A significant plot line was so undeveloped that it eventually disappeared-- whether the culprits involved were ever brought to any kind of justice remains unknown. The romantic plot line likewise disappeared; from the story of two damaged but strong personalities looking to hide from old lives while building new ones, it diminished into a great deal of aimless , repetitive sentimental mush. Half of the book was entertaining, the other half largely a waste of time.
Hands down, the best money I've spent on a book or ebook in a LONG time! I read some of the reviews before purchasing and decided to take a chance that the high ratings were accurate. And may I say... Doubt not. They are 100% correct! This was just the story my bruised, wilting, hopelessly romantic soul needed and I'm so glad I own it and can reread it anytime I want. I will not reveal ANY details because half the joy of reading Ransom and Izzy's story was learning all the surprises Ms. Dare had in store for me. Some of them I caught right away or fairly quickly, others caught me by surprise. So if you want a spoiler, my review isn't the one for you.

Suffice it to say this story will refresh your belief in love, in the power of kindness and optimism and in happily ever afters. Brava, Ms Dare! I've enjoyed your books before, but this one truly moved me.
I really enjoyed this book as the plot was unique for a change and not the typical cookie cutter romance of norm with nothing more than girl meets boy, fall in lust then love, have major silly predictable misunderstanding and then end up making up and living HEA.

The characters were charming and all well developed and even the "fantasy" parts of the book meshed in perfectly balancing out the story, enough for the reader to find it not entirely far fetched at all. The chemistry and honesty (no game playing/holding back) between the leads was seductive and erotic. It was so nice to see a women, an untouched and naive woman, embrace her desires openly without the typical "shame" as is the norm in regency romances. Equally refreshing to see the hero man up and be himself with no pretense, grow emotionally and embrace his growth and love for Izzy without the constant berating you see most hero's do in novels. I'm really looking forward to the rest of this series. ) well done Ms. Dare.
I picked up this book on a whim, after downloading an ARC of a later book in the series... also on a whim. Believe it or not, it's my first ever historical romance. (Unless, of course, you're counting those times when I used to peek between the pages of whatever bodice ripper my mom was reading when I was younger. I don't.) I really didn't think historical romance could live up to the sexiness and swoon of contemporary, but I was so, so very wrong.

I fell in love with this book. The story, the characters, the setting. It was all magical and fairytale-like. I just loved Izzy. She was such a great, strong character. I clicked with her immediately. Her lack of self-confidence was easy to relate with. I liked watching her trying to balance the young, innocent girl the entire country knew with the grown up woman who desired love and passion. I loved how she grew and become more confident as the story continued. And the full revelations that came to light? YES! If I'm honest, I didn't see that coming at all.

Ransom wasn't the swooniest guy in the beginning, but my goodness, I was crushing hard before the end of the book. Poor guy had been through a lot – and didn't deserve to be dealing with the shady folks he was. I'm a sucker for a good antagonistic romance, so naturally I loved how things began between Izzy and Ransom started off. They had TONS of chemistry and I just liked them together.

Romancing the Duke was a fun book. It was also swoony and romantic. I laughed and blushed and really just enjoyed the entire ride. It was nice to get lost in something different than what I normally read. I enjoyed the characters (including some of the secondary characters who I hope get their own book *cough* Abigail *cough*), the story and the setting. I couldn't have picked a better first historical romance.

Consider me a historical romance convert! I honestly never thought they were for me, but clearly I was mistaken. I'm so glad I decided to dip my toe in the waters... now I think I'm just about ready to dive straight on in. My is loaded up and ready to go.
I had been having a bad few days washer quit, faucet leaking, and a sick cat. I decided to read for a while and try to regain my sanity. All I can say is "Thank you, Tessa Dare!" This book hooked me from the very beginning. A heroine who is not typical at all plain (large nose and frizzy hair), practical, and willing to go toe to toe for what she thinks is rightfully hers. No shrinking violet here! The hero is handsome, scarred, and a recluse. Oh, and he is blind! When Izzie shows up to claim the decrepit old castle that the Duke is hiding in, sparks fly. With the moldering old castle, only one servant and a blind Duke, I was afraid that I was in for a Gothic tale of vengeful spirits and a secret child or two. Instead I found a charming (though highly improbable) tale that kept me laughing and reading long into the night. I still have to laugh when I think of the 'West Yorkshire Riding Knights of Moranglia.' If you are looking for a book that is perfect in every historical detail, then this may not be the book for you. However, if you like strong heroines, flawed but gorgeous heroes, and witty dialogue....this is it!

Warning The heat level in this book is HOT and may offend some readers.
