The second book of Issued to the Bride Series. Although it can be read as a standalone story, it binds into the series and describes the efforts of the second military a general sends to marry off his unruly girls to protect them.
He comes at the right time, as the oldest of the girls is on a honeymoon and her cool head is missing while there is still trouble brewing for the girls.
An enchanting story, with the main characters so different from the first couple, that there is no repetition, although the start is nearly the same.
Not only a love story, but also a story describing the way out of self-loathing, out of believing one has no right to be happy.
A great read, deep, but still entertaining
Issued to the Bride One Airman Brides of Chance Creek Book 2 is by Cora Seton. This is a great series about five girls who are all different but who are all the daughters of General Reed. He was the head of NSSOCOM at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. He had a plan worked out in his mind concerning his daughters and some of the men who were working for him. The men had all done something to make them eligible for a dishonorable discharge; but General Reed was determined that would not happen. He has given them one chance to redeem themselves. Will it work? Will his girls be safe?
If Cass was the heart of the ranch, Sadie was the green thumb. She could grow just about anything and everything grew rampantly. Sadie could hear the plants tell her what they needed and then provided it for them. Now, after the fiasco with Mark, Sadie could no longer hear anything. She determined that this meant she was to leave the ranch which would break her heart. However, for the sake of the ranch, she was determined to do just that. Could Connor O’Riley fix everything while he built the walled garden?
This is book two in the series and so far I'm loving it and the series. Its full of action, suspense and mystery. Not to mention some hot love scenes. It's something about that rock and a thunderstorm that sets the love making on fire. Connor and Sadie had a connection that could not be denied. Talk about your other half. They make a very strong couple together. Sade lost her connection to the land until she fell in love with Connor who gave her the love and strength she needed. Some times I don't know whether to laugh or cry because each girl needs love and their father is making it possible but he's the one they need. I love the fact that the sister are strong and powerful and need very strong men to tame. Lol!!! This is a must read book and series. Looking forward to the next story. Knock, Knock, Whose there your future Husband!!!
I love this series and this second book doesn't disappoint. Sadie is the second sister to fall to her father's airman sent to win her heart. Connor arrives during the wedding of Sadie's eldest sister to the first military man sent to win her heart. Connor arrives under the premise of helping Sadie build a legacy. Sadie has a special gift of being able to see things before they happen and to prepare special healing potions from the many herbs and plants that she grows in the yard. Unfortunately, Sadie and the girls have been having problems and especially Sadie as her plants are struggling to grow. When she normally could see and hear what's wrong with her plants, she can't anymore and not only are her plants suffering but also her patients.
Connor is there to help her build her legacy and she decides it's a walled garden. I love how Cora writes and how the relationship blossoms. Another great read!
Like the books in the Heroes series, the Cowboy series and the Seals series, this book is set in fictitious Chance City, Montana. They all investigate the subject of marriages contracted because of pressure from third parties who want to see the main characters settled down. Even though the relationships start between unwilling participants, in the end they prove to bring happiness and fulfilment to everyone involved. Little by little, with each book, a community is built, out of memorable, interesting characters, who reappear, time and again in all books. We reach the moment when we, as readers, know who is going to organize the latest wedding, who is going to perform the wedding ceremony, who is going to provide the bridal gown etc., Who is to be trusted and who is not. The characters are not superficial, there is good and bad in them, as it is in real life, and they grow and develop, which makes them interesting. Of course, there is a dose of predictability. We know from the beginning who is going to end up with whom, but how this is achieved is unexpected, and the characters fall in love, while dealing with and healing their wounds from the past, which gives them depth. I look forward to the next book. The Seals series and the Brides series have not been completed yet. I thoroughly recommend these books to anyone interested in spending some relaxing hours in a world of a closely knit fictitious community one wishes it were real and available.
